Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, and Liberation Day, is an annual holiday celebrated on June 19th in the United States. It commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, particularly those in Texas who were not informed of their freedom until two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.
